I think real decorating confidence comes from understanding what you like. And that is when you can truly create your sanctuary. The truest comfort in a home comes when you look around a room and connect somehow with everything in it. 

I took a long time to understand what I like. And for that confidence to come. I was in my sixth adult home and in my late forties before I figured out my taste and for my love of blue and white to show itself. 

My Mum loved everything plain. Clean lines, simple shapes, very little pattern. And I love the opposite which is partly why it took me so long to find my own way.
